NASA is launching its own streaming service later this year

by Abdul Hadi

NASA has joined the “+” streaming trend. A new streaming service dubbed NASA+ will be introduced by the government organization later this year. Live coverage of upcoming launches, documentaries, and brand-new original programmers will all be available on the ad-free, cost-free streaming service.

Marc Etkind, associate administrator for communications at NASA, said in a statement that “we’re putting space on demand and at your fingertips.” “Transforming our digital presence will help us more effectively communicate the stories of how NASA explores the uncharted in air and space, inspires through discovery and innovates for the good of humanity,” the statement reads.

NASA+: Stream All Your Favorite Space Content on Your Favorite Devices

On mobile and tablet devices running iOS and Android as well as streaming media players like Roku, Apple TV, and Fire TV, NASA+ will be accessible through the NASA app.

The agency’s new beta website will also provide access to the streaming service online. Climate data, Artemis updates, information on the agency’s aims and research, and more will all be available on the new website. With a shared search engine and integrated navigation, the new nasa.gov and science.nasa.gov websites will offer a topic-driven experience.

NASA+ is intended to act more as a live archive of the organization’s accomplishments, objectives, and ongoing research than as a conventional streaming service filled with stand-alone entertainment. The service will provide information on current endeavors including the study done by the Mars probes as well as the future Artemis moon mission through both individual films and continuing series.

The presently uses NASA TV for its launch feeds and video assets. On both the NASA website and YouTube, it maintains a 24/7 schedule of material. NASA is establishing a separate location for people to watch its programming by launching its own streaming service.

In a news statement, NASA CIO Jeff Seaton stated that updating the organization’s primary websites and streamlining how users interact with its content online are the first steps towards making NASA’s data “more accessible, discoverable, and secure.”

We don’t yet know how the streaming service will look, but considering that the agency claims to be concentrating on modernizing and streamlining its material, we probably won’t see anything too different from other streaming services’ user interfaces.
