- The new pro phones are switching to a 3-nanometer CPU that is notably snappier, while the standard iPhone 15 models continue to use last year’s A16 chipset.
For the pro versions this year, Apple had also planned touch-sensitive buttons with haptic feedback for the power button, the mute/ring switch, and the volume controls. The buttons wouldn’t physically press in, similar to Mac trackpads, enabling new software tricks and lowering the number of potentially fragile parts on the gadget.

Several engineering issues led to the cancellation of the enhancement, known as Bongo. Concerns were also raised concerning the price increase compared to standard buttons.
