The Twitter brand has become a global phenomenon, recognized by millions. Central to this recognition is the company’s iconic logo – the bluebird, affectionately named ‘Larry’. The building, known as the Gleaming X, is a testament to Twitter’s commitment to creativity, innovation, and community engagement. This article will explore the various aspects of the Gleaming X and how it contributes to Twitter’s iconic branding.

San Francisco

The city of San Francisco claims in a complaint that they had been to the offices of the business formerly known as Twitter twice since Friday in relation to the new flashing “X” sign on top of the structure.

The complaint claims that a notice of violation (NOV) was issued for the new sign that adorns the structure housing the headquarters of the social media platform for work done without permission.

Owner Elon Musk renamed Twitter and its recognizable bird emblem as X last week. On Saturday, he posted a video of the structure with the updated flashing “X” emblem along with the message “Our HQ in San Francisco tonight.”

“NOV issued for unlicensed labor. MH visited the location and chatted with representatives of Tweeter (sic) and the Building Maintenance Engineer. I requested access to the roof area and described the BID’s inquiry process for complaints. A Representative for Twitter (sic) declined to grant entry but did clarify that the building is only a temporary lit sign for an event. The NOV requires the construction to be removed with a building permit or legalized, which I made clear to all representatives, the complaint states.

Another attempt to access the roof was conducted on Saturday, but it was also unsuccessful, according to the complaint.

According to Patrick Hannan, a representative for the city’s Department of Building Inspection. The city needs a permit to approve new letters or symbols on a sign “to ensure consistency with the historic nature of the building and to ensure the new additions are safely attached to the sign,” according to the Washington Post.

A notice of violation may be subject to fees, such as permit and investigation fees, according to the city website. We don’t know what costs X might incur.
